Jan. 12, 2009 (China Knowledge) - The People's Bank of China (PBOC) has abolished the capital requirements for Chinese companies' bond issue last week, sources reported.

The move, part of the central government's efforts to ease the financing difficulties of the domestic firms, will allow companies to issue bonds below RMB 500 million in the country's interbank bond market.

RMB 500 million was the market entry threshold the central bank had set in 2004.

PBOC will carry out a series of bond issuing schemes to facilitate the fundraising of Chinese firms this year, such as short-term trial bonds for the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), high interest bonds and SME united bonds.
